How to remove Microsoft Edge browser from Windows 10
Microsoft Edge was one of the biggest efforts by Microsoft in order to revamp the default browser for Windows, after Internet Explorer couldn’t keep up with the growing demand and latest trends.
However, with Microsoft Edge, there was a hope for Microsoft, as the browser performs pretty good on all needed standards. A lot of comparison reports initially gave Edge browser an upper hand over the other browsers like Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox.
However, there are a lot of Windows users who found it better to not give a try and remain with their previous default browser. Microsoft Edge is yet to gain the kind of popularity expected by the tech giant before the release.
Well, Microsoft Edge is not that bad of a browser, but if you still want to remove it from your system, there is a simple guide shared below.
Steps to Disable / Remove Microsoft Edge from Windows 10
Microsoft Edge browser can not be found inside the programs list in control panel, however, it is a process and all the files associated are inside a specific folder.
To remove the browser, simply head over to “C:WindowsSystemApps” and find a folder named “Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe“.
Just rename the folder. You can use any text or digits. In our case, I added Back_ before the name, by not changing the name too much (It helps in re activating the browser in case you need it sometime in future).
Once you are done renaming, the browser will be disabled. You can now try opening Microsoft Edge from the shortcut or Start Menu and there will be no action, as Windows will not be able to locate the files associated with the browser.
To activate it once again, just change the name of the folder back to how it was previously and you are goog to go.
