How to update Xbox One controller

Microsoft will be releasing updates for all its products regularly and Xbox One controller in not an exception. Though it is not mandatory to update Xbox One controller, there is a software update available to the Xbox One. If you are using Xbox one stereo headset adapter along with your Xbox One gaming console, then this update is must for this to work properly. It is very easy to update the Xbox One controller and here is how to do it.

How to update Xbox One controller

  • Turn on your Xbox One device and sign in with your Xbox Live account. This will ensure that the Xbox One is connected to online with the access to the latest updates available.
  • If you are in plans to use the Xbox One stereo headset adapter, then plug into your Xbox controller and connect a headset. The headset must be connected, such that the adapter will turn on.
  • Now insert the big end of the micro-USB cable into the port on console. Use the USB cable which comes along with your Xbox one package, or use the one which comes with your Windows Phone.
  • Now plugin the small end of the USB cable into the port present on top of the controller.
  • That’s the update process will start automatically. Follow the on screen instructions and remember to not to disconnect the USB cable when update is in progress. If update fails to start automatically, then press menu button and go to Settings > System > Update controller and then select Continue button.
  • After the update is completed, then disconnect the USB cable. If you more than one controller to update, then connect one by one and follow the same process.
